W elcome to Northern Country Morels of Michigan! This web site is dedicated to the Outdoors Enthusiast. Providing vital Morel Mushroom Hunting information to Morel Mushroom Hunters new and seasoned from all over. Generally this site will be relating to the Michigan Morel Season since this has been my home all my life. Nevertheless, the information provided on this site can be applied for any state. If you have come here to learn how, where, when and why to hunt these mysterious fungi called a morel, you have come to the right place. This web site goes above and beyond the other mushroom sites out there. In fact I have had many emails accusing me of giving away a bit too much information. The way I see it is, as long as I am not breaking the number 1 commandment of Morel Hunting which is...Never ask another hunter for his/her hunting spot or give out hunting spots, then I feel the information provided on this site isn't infringing on any Morel Hunters stomping grounds. (Maybe just increasing the competition a little) Now don't get me wrong, there are many great sites out there that speak of morels, but I have not found one yet that goes as far in depth as this site goes. There are many variations that affect morel growth such as rainfall, weather temperature and habitat. The information that will be provided on this sight will definitely help any Morel Hunter (even if you are a seasoned hunter); predict when the time will be right for the picking, locating and increasing your findings, recognize and identify morel habitat and be able to tell the false morel from the true morel. This site has helped many already.
