Discussions on Morel Mushrooms. Please do not post your finds in this forum.

Do not give specific areas where mushrooms have been found. Refrain from naming street names, Business names, government buildings, shopping centers, pasturelands, when specific directions are given to a location, or any place with an address. Naming a County and or State is fine and will provide enough info for any hunter to get an idea if mushrooms are being found in their area.<br />Click here for more info: Respecting other Hunters

I think there are too many variables for one to ever determine if morels and alcohol don't mix.

Most of the "data" that's been used to suggest this was too subjective. Meaning the people's illness could easily have been caused by something other than the morels or alcohol. It was easy for one to assume it was the morel and alcohol combo that caused the illness, but it wasn't proven to be the case.

Although, I can say from first hand experience that hunting morels and consuming alcohol don't mix for certain folks.

Just a warning, morels, alcohol, karaoke at the Yuma Bar and driving don't mix well. Got a free hotel room in Kent County :banghead: for that one. That's one expensive mistake.

This may be a dangerous game to play while mushroom hunting, seeing as you are in the woods, but has anyone tried out this theory in mushroom hunting as well?

Also known as "The Ballmer Curve" and "The Ballmer Effect" this state has been observed by people who play darts... and musicians.

Hmmmm. . . this is very interesting. I've been searching the posts to see if this has ever happened with anyone else. Never factored in the alcohol.

Last year I found a handful of black morels, took 'em home, fried 'em up and ate 'em. Probably had steak and potatoes on the side, and definitely some wine. An hour or two later I had to throw up. Not nauseous, light headed, tummy gurgle or anything else. Once I hurled, I was fine. I figured I had a bad reaction to the blacks, my husband was fine....but he doesn't drink wine.

This was the first time I'd ever had blacks, usually we find whites and I can eat 'em til the cows come home, never had a bad reaction. With or without alcohol.
I haven't been back to that spot yet this year, I figured I'd let someone else find those, I'll stick with my whites. Now I'm wondering......

:drinks:

I have gotten sick from eating too many and I did not have any alcohol with them. I think I just ate too many.

You mean you can actually have morels without a cold beer? Interesting. I thought they were like PB&J unseperable!
