Discussions on Morel Mushrooms. Please do not post your finds in this forum.

Do not give specific areas where mushrooms have been found. Refrain from naming street names, Business names, government buildings, shopping centers, pasturelands, when specific directions are given to a location, or any place with an address. Naming a County and or State is fine and will provide enough info for any hunter to get an idea if mushrooms are being found in their area.<br />Click here for more info: Respecting other Hunters

hi I am new to mushroom hunting and have had a little success this year so far. I was just wondering if its too late now to look in the Oakland county area. I was going to head to northern Oakland county but would like a little input on whether anyone thinks that they may still be coming up here. I would also love to head up north but would appreciate some help with what general areas to go to. Thanks and any help would be appreciated!

Thank you so much. I have had a little luck this year in oakland county but it is my understanding that it gets pretty picked over here. Any input on good areas up north would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

I'm in west Oakland Commerce/Milford area an I've had decent luck this year. I found 40-50 between here and up north. I still have hopes of finding the bigfoot yellows down here but for anything else I'd definitely consider going north. My experience(Which is limited) tells me your better off getting to know your own area very well first. Timing is very important. Up north is very daunting. The morel towns are well documented but they are often just centers to travel from. Some of them consist of miles of morel unfriendly territory that give way to a few acres of good territory and those areas in my opinion are more intensely hunted than any of my local areas. My mom is in Lewiston and it has taken me years to get my bearings up there to find any at all. This year I found a dozen nice ones over a dozen hours hunting and I was thankful. FYI I think the Mesick festival is this weekend that can be a good place to start despite the competition. Good luck!

I thank you very much for the info! I had horses for years and boarded them in the Milford and Highland area so i know the area pretty good. Again thanks soooo much!
