The last few years I have been ticked at the amount of residue that has increasingly been left behind do to propellants from black powder.
I cant find the post that someone made about Black horn 209.
I decided to give it a try and am vary pleased with it.
Have been using 3 pellets and 250 gr shock wave super slides with great results but hard to shoot more than a few rounds with out cleaning.
All said and done, 100 grs. of Black horn 209 and the 200 gr. shock wave is the winner!!
Zips down range fast and accuracy was fantastic.
1 inch groups at 100 yards.
This stuf is fast and clean.

The powder granules are about 3 times larger, a little more air space around them and fast burn.

Ya it's been around for a bit now and I
don't know anyone that has anything bad to
say about it.

But unlike Pyrodex where too hot of a primer will create
a crud ring and make it hard to load, from
what I've read you want to use a very hot primer with this
and at times a differnt breech plug.

200 grain bullet is pretty light except for varmit hunting imo.

Paul, when I first got the T/C I was using the 200gr shock waves with 2 50gr. pellets.
Most of the deer dropped in their tracks. Switched to 250gr shock waves and 3 50gr pellets for a pass through shot and better blood trail. The 250gr shock waves damaged way more meat. The way the black horn 209 sends the shock wave down range, seemingly faster, this hunting season will tell the rest of the story. We'll see.

Just don't here of anything under a 250 mentioned often.
I'm not impressed with shockwaves due to lack of expansion
and have heard similar.

As far as damaged meat, I go for the heart/lung shot,
so there's not much meat damage no matter what the size bullet.
The best bullet I've found for expansion is the solid copper by barnes and
have an easy load, but are a tad expensive.
