It has been a long time since I have posted about rabbit hunting. My dad and I used to go every Saturday up until 2 years ago when one of his beagles (Bogie) developed bad hips and arthritis. My dad had to retire him from hunting. One day we took the other beagle (Gus) and left Bogie at home. Never do this because they know when you are going hunting. They see that blaze orange and the guns going into the back of the truck and they get so excited. That poor dog was yelping and carrying on as he watched us pull out of the driveway to go hunting without him. Later that night my dad got a visit from the local Police. The neighbor behind him complained that the dog was barking and yelping the entire day and accused my dad of animal cruelty. My dad explained to the pig erm I mean police officer what happened. So anyway there was no way for us to go rabbit hunting taking only one of the two dogs. Well after 2 years Bogie died last month. My dad finally got out and hunted with Gus a few weeks ago. He called me and we had plans to go last Saturday which was an awesome 50 deg and sunny but my dad couldn't sleep all that night so he had to cancel our hunt and said we will plan this Saturday (Today) but what do you know it has been pouring down rain all night and so far all day. Needless to day we got rained out. Just bought a small game license last Friday hoping to get a few hunts in before it ends. Now there is only two Saturdays left until Rabbit season closes.
