does anyone know of a good used bow for a beginner? or anyone have one they want to get rid of for really cheap (or just get rid of for free)? i've been laid off for 6 months and due to my past record(nothing in the past 5 years) all driving offenses anyway, i haven't been able to find other work, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Good morning Dan. I am a new member to this forum but an avid archer. I am on the Pro Staff for PSE and may have a few good tips for you. If your looking for a compound bow, a good piece of advice is to look for something that fits you good. If you have any shops near you I would stop in there and check out what they have. Draw weight and Draw length is very important to shooting well. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Cheap is great when you are down a bit but you still need something that fits you so that you can make clean and acurate shots on your prey!

Hilltophunter is absolutely correct. Find a dealer near you and go in and try out several different brands. The bow needs to fit you, right draw length and right weight. If price is an issue most dealers will have 2009 models discounted and you may be able to get a good deal. One more thing, practice, practice and practice. Practice from different distances, practice standing, kneeling and from an elevated position.

I would definatly also recomend shooting before you buy, i have made the mistake of getting a cheap older bow, and didnt do well with it at all. Now i have the destroyer 340 and love it. Good luck
