Hi Everyone!

I want to first say how happy I was to find a forum like this! I just joined a few hours ago but have really found this site to be informative and there are so many different types of topics being posted!

I am living now in Southern California, Los Angeles to be exact but am an east coaster. I was living out in Europe - Scandinavia for the past five years - and that is where my love for mushroom hunting came about. I think it's been part of me since I was kid...the hunt - whether it's for mushrooms or rocks, shells and sea glass on the beach. Europe had amazing forests where one could go and take a walk and come out with lots of great finds. I am hoping to find some mushrooms in the southern California area - and I think that I have read that they grow mainly during the winter season - oh well! I can still hope. I am really curious as to find different paths to walk and forests - and hopefully they're safe enough!

I have been known in Europe to go on walks in the forest with snow on the ground in hopes of finding mushrooms - ... and I was successful! Some may find it sad, but I just love it!

There are members here including myself that drudge through the snow to find mushrooms, not that you have to worry about that anymore living in southern California,LOL. Mushroom hunting in Scandinavia............I'm so jealous.
