Good morning. I'm happy to be here! I had planned to stay inside and clean house but I read some posts about ramps and decided the house can wait a few more days because I'm going after some ramps today! If I happen to find a few mushrooms while I'm out there that would be ok too this warm weather has got me all fired up its like spring break to me. I don't get onlilne very much because I don't have my own computer (using my 21 year old son's) but I get on when I can. Time to get outside now even though it is only 30F. Doreen

Hi, Doreen. Welcome to NCM. This is the best mushroom site I know.
"Ramps"? I'll probably feel foolish for asking, but what are "ramps"?
And where are you?

Thanks for the welcome.
Ramps are an onion garlic like wild edlible. I think I found some but not sure. Now I need to find that other thread to find out if ramps always have red stems.
Found a false morel today. Some more dryards too. Anything is better than nothing. Oh also found a nice 8 point buck skull!!!

are ramps leeks? I find tons of leeks in our woods; eat some, and you'll smell like an italian sausage for a day and a half :)

Welcome to NCM Doreen! If you are just starting to learn about morel hunting. First start out by learning the host trees. Next learn the difference between a true morel and a false morel. Also read through some of the various information on the homepage. Also, the search feature will be one of your best sources for exact information you are looking for. If you have any more questions or just want to chat, strike up a conversation or jump into one that is already going.

Don't forget to check out the FAQ's and Rules.
