I'm from Michigan but transplanted to Ohio looking to spend some time hunting morels and thought it might be a fun thing to do this weekend. Thought I'd look around the internet and get some tips for hunting morels as it's been a while. I'll hopefully be in the Manistee NF this weekend.

Hey Brian, have you spent any time looking in Ohio? Any luck? I'd guess they would be a little earlier than MI?

I have looked in OH but I haven't had any luck. I'm right in the NW part of OH and haven't been here long enough to have friends with property. I also don't have a lot of luck unless there is well drained soils. It's mostly clay here and we have been wet the last three springs so by the time it dries up enough, seasons almost over. Heck last year no one could even plant corn until after June 1st. This year is totally different but I have a feeling morel season here was about as quick as the maple syrup season.
