i did a search,and see that the last posts discussing the differances between the 2 are a year old .have things evened out in the browser world ,or do major advantages still exist when it comes to comptability??since i'm still in chapter 1 of computers for dummies,i could use some advice from the techies...thanks in advance.

First thing...Toss IE in the garbage if you're using it and switch to a real browser like Firefox. I have been developing websites since 1995 and I could give you a list of a hundred reasons why not to use it.

You would not believe all the band aids us developers have to put into the code just to make IE display properly. IE is not CSS friendly. Often it cannot display correctly. I could go on but the main bad thing about IE is it uses "Active X to run certain applications. "Actie X" is harmful to your computer since is compromises the security of your computer and can let malicious viruses in. It has to download software programs to your computer and caused IE to run slower than other browsers. Fire fox and the newer browsers like Google Chrome and Opera don't use "Active X".

thanks for the replies...just when i thought i had the new service set up ,i run into difficulty installing missing/required plug ins :scratch: ,ah well much to learn i suppose :banghead: ...will keep trying.
