I grew up hunting shroons with my parents and grandma and these are a few of the strict rules we had to follow. rule 1 bring a walking stick or find one upon entering the patch. 2 all bags must be mesh to spread the spores from the ones that are picked to re seed the patch. 3 bag can not be open till u find your third shroon. adding to someones elses bag so it can be opened is not permitted. 4 first shroon found must be seen by all before it can be picked. that way all can get the shroon sight. 5 all snakes are bad and should be beaten with required stick. sorry snake lovers but grandma hated snakes. 6 find one shroon stop and find the other two. grandma always said they grow in 3's very true i found out over time usually find 2 within a 15 yard circle after spotting the first one. 7 always look behind you as they tend to grow where you were. hopefully u wont see the one's u stepped on. 8 compass check and u better have one or u would here about it all day. she loved her stories of little kids lost in the woods. 9 did i mention snakes are bad 10 no one leaves the woods till grandma is happy the patch was covered. one last thing i remember to this day was after a long day of picking she would tell all us kids to turn around and close our eyes and look at the shroons that we missed. and like magic our eyes would be full of them. happy times, thank you grandma. xxoo
