Yesterday I found what I think is a chicken mushroom. I decided to go back today to take some pics and collect a little. I just wasnted to make sure it is a chicken. I don't know if the pic shows but the underside is mostly white and it looks like it has very small pores.
Also can anyone tell what kind of tree it is on or that it isn't a conifer? The tree is very decayed. I've read that if they are on eastern hemlock, etc that they can be bad to eat. It was found around Bay City, Michigan if that is any help. I know there are oaks, hickory, white birch, walnut, and I think cottonwood in the forest, but I'm not sure about eastern hemlock. There wasn't really any bark on the fallen tree unless the first pics of the tree in the album are bark. Thanks for any help.
