hey bob, i can get you some fresh chaga if you like. I didnt know if you wanted to break it down or not. it'll be a lil more expensive to ship because of the weight but i can send you some freshies and you can do with them what you like! If I see some today I'll grab it i promise, if i dont see any today, i'll make a trip within the next week and hit up some of the areas i've found it in.

Hi Blake,
Whatever it costs, it will cost. Do not worry about the shipping price. I will cover it plus. I go through a lot of this stuff. It helps my arthritis. Nothing else that I have tried seems to work.

This is on my hit list for this year.Don't have alot of birch around me but I know of some.Does this just grow on the tree or does it form from a wound or something?Nice find!!!!! [ Post made via iPhone ]

it kinda creates it's own wound from what i've noticed. you'll just see a big black blemish on the tree itself, size depending on the age of the chaga of course (i've read it can grow for 5-7 years??) I always see it on the older scraggly birch trees of the particular vicinity and have found it on dead ones as well. i've seen it on paper, grey, and white here in MI, and also yellow in WV.

Wow!
Just from having joined a few hours ago - I've really learned some new things - especially about Chaga! I have seen this in Europe on Birch trees, but never thought it could be used for something like tea - or even fire! So awesome. I am really hoping to explore here in Los Angeles - hopefully to find something - though I have heard that the season for southern California is during the winter times! Bummer!
Thanks to all for such informative tidbits!
