Would like to try out our new camper close to home (Kalkaska County) or within 50-60 miles. Do you have a favorite place to camp? We'd like to be where there's water. Thanks!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I recommend the State Park in Traverse City. They have everything you would need for your camper or tent. You'll be close to the bay for beach walks, and you are close enough to town for anything else you might have forgotten. Only a short drive to the hills for mushroom hunting. This is a good place to go for those new to camping. Once you know that you can reliably inventory, pack, and haul everything you need, you will find that you have gained confidence which will allow you to go out to state land on your own. Good luck!

Thanks, Paulpallas,
Is it fifteen a night there? I always thought that'd be a great place to camp. This might be a good first outing.

Hoeft State Park- about 5 miles for Rogers City... It's a great park right in the middle of woods but close to the Lake Huron (within walking distance). The only bad thing I can say about the park is because it's so close to Lake Huron- it gets pretty chilly sometimes- otherwise great park.... :bigrin2:
