I don't anything about SD pheasant hunting but I'm going to watch this post because I agree pheasant hunting in Michigan is tough.

I have been hunting SD the last few years around Huron and Clark. There is a good mix of state game areas and walk-in areas. Unfortunately, with the crop prices so high I have seen alot of walk-in areas plowed up the last couple of years for crops. Last year was still good but I fear bird numbers will begin to drop dramatically with the loss of habitat.

Aberdeen and Ipswich South Dakota area are home for me. Excellent mix of nice farmers and public lands. You won't be disappointed.

I live in WV but went out there and worked a couple summers ago and saw lots of pheasants and talked to some farmers and people I worked with that told me to come back and hunt sometime. I have'nt went yet but I will soon!! I was around Aberdeen South Dakota and Ashley North Dakota. Lots of pheasants!!

Gone hunting

Hi morelprice,

Have you checked out our "Wild Game recipe section we have here on the board? I think there are a couple good ones for pheasant.

We have Bird Camp every year on state land near South Branch and a group of our guys have been going to Aberdeen South Dakota for many years and they said even bad years are better there than anywhere else they have gone.

Good luck and harvest plenty.

Live life and enjoy to the fullest.
