Well let's just say mother nature called at the wrong time this morning. I was taking a leak and had a 4 and a spike walk up behind me. I got pulled up on the spike but forgot to take the safety off. He lives to see another day. [ Post made via BlackBerry Curve ]

Yup, the old saying. "Look what you see when you have the wrong gun in your hands."
Right now, I'm looking at taking any buck since I haven't shot one since 1999. All does every year since then and I have passed on plenty of little bucks.

Well the luck continues!!
I got to see a nice 8 a few nights ago. Well he decided to do a little broadside trot at 30 yards. I couldn't get him to stop.
On to last night, I got to see him again in a different stand at 150 yards. He was hot on a doe with 2 fawns. Well I grunted to him and he looks my way, but never comes in to my stand. BUT, shortly after I grunted, a doe comes crashing out of the bedding area and walks up to around the 30 yard mark. The problem was, she was in the thick stuff. She trots back towards the bedding area after she couldn't find the deer. So I grunt again when she gets out around 50 yards, she turns around and heads straight back to the thick stuff, bobs her head a few times and starts back towards the bedding area. So I grunt once more and she does the exact same thing, but this time she gets spooked. I had a fork horn come crashing through the areas about 20 yards behind me. I think he got spooked by another hunter in the area because I could hear him coming from about a mile off.
To top it off. Tonight I was walking out of my stand at my in-laws place. I get out to the main trail and start walking down the path when I get to the curve and low-and-behold, there's a buck standing right in the middle of it working a scrape. He runs off about 25 feet and stomps his feet, grunts, and wheezes at me. So I knock an arrow, even though it is after shooting hours, because I actually felt like he was going to take me on. Plus I had spilled Tink's 69 on my glove and didn't want to be the next guy on "When Buck's Attack". Well he moved off to around 50 feet and I high tailed it out of there, the whole time shining him down with my flash light. Tomorrow night, I'll be between the swamp and his scrape!
Just a crazy year for me this year. I need venison, and they keep finding some way to not help me out a little.
