Well,it's a done deal for all seasons for everyone over 10 in the lower and the same for the U.P. except no usage in the late season after Nov.30 because of yarding deer. There just was'nt the explosion of people interested in crossbow hunting that the state expected. The free permit that you hade to have(and still do) was one way of keeping tally on those that used a crossbow for hunting.I think the state has more to worry about when it comes to wildlife management than the use of crossbows....reguardless of what ya use this season(which is coming up soon)....have fun,be safe and good luck.

It really doesn't bother me if people know what they are doing when they get them. What I don't like is the thought of someone who never wanted to spend the time or effort bow hunting going out and buying a cheap POS and using that. There are many people that see a crossbow has 150lb draw weight and their buddy shoots a compound with a 65lb draw weight and just assume it must have over twice the power because it is over twice the weight, well, it doesn't. Other than that as long as it's legal and they are safe, people can do what they want.

Well, I got one of these http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/product/jackal on the way. I got chastised by some older guys in Dunham's one day for looking at them which got the wheels turning. Also, I can't draw my bow back again this year because I tore my hernia again so I finally broke down and ordered one. Woohoo bow season, I'm BAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKK!

Don't like it. I like it for disabled and handicapped, but to allow everyone, we should just allow gun hunting then too.

to say that we should just allow guns if your going to allow crossbows is kind of an extreme. In my opinion allowing cossbows will allow more ethical utilization of the archery season, for one getting old timers back in the woods, or should I say "seasoned" veterans. Vertical and crossbows have comparable ranges and capabilities, why wouldn't you want to allow something that more people can become proficient with and as a result lose fewer deer. Not to mention what this can do to bring youth into the sport
