after reseach i have learned theres many ways to start a fire( other than a lighter and matches) how many is there? if you know one post it, please. i will start it off with o so common rub to sticks together... 4 say with a bow. what else is there? and lets not be a smartass about it please we all know that gas works well. survival sitiuations

LOL! that's the way my kid started a fire on the ice this past winter. it does work, even on waterlogged, snow covered, and frozen solid wood.

Grey's idea is a neat one, although not sized for packing  One ignition source that I stumbled upon years ago was a fire piston. With a little research I found a way to make one from a mini maglite. You can use the mag to carry the tinder of your choice and it keeps everything waterproof.
