Yup, read that right. Just finally made my third trip out since Oct. first. I got to see six deer and all the shooters wouldn't give me a good shot. Sooooo....... I took an injured doe fawn that someone shot recently in the neck. It pisses me off :idiot: that whoever took this shot had a perfect broadside shot and went for the neck (entrance and exit wound were perfectly opposite sides). They did break her neck but not enough to sever the spinal cord. But I guess that's hunting state land. :banghead:

Definitely mixed feelings! Glad I got some meat, po'd that someone took a neck shot on her with a bow. She was there with a larger doe that I wanted but it was getting dark and the doe wasn't coming in. I probably would have still had a shot on the fawn after I took a shot on the doe, she was hobbling that slow around.

It's hard to say if someone intentionally neck shot her. could have passed thru one and into here, could have deflected, many a scenario is possible other than some yahoo taking neck shots with a bow. But, having seen what I've seen this season nothing surprises me.

I have seen zero deer where I hunt since the end of October. The crossbow and bow hunters really put a lot of pressure on them and i am finding gutpiles the next day that weren't there the night before. Hmm? the amazing overnight appearing gutpile.

Plus, I think a lot of the crosbow hunters might not be very skilled and are using them like rifles and shotguns with less than acceptable results. I find lots of dead deer that were never recovered in the past couple seasons.

Hard to say though. I just keep hunting the way I do and hope for the best. hunting state land is a challenge no doubt, but when you do get one it makes it all the more worth it, cuz you know you worked for it.

After further examination, I would have to guess this would be what happened. I found four chunks of lead in the spine and the wound was still bleeding lightly. IT should have been scabbed over after 7 days if it was a rifle season shot.
