Hello all! I am looking forward to being a part of your group. I am into the second year of finding my first morel. My lady & I are coming up on our 3rd year of having a little get away in Northern Michigan! We looked and looked last year but only found some Beefstakes. I think we may be lucky this year, beginners luck needs to happen at some point right? I look forward to reading stories and hopefully sharing some myself. Last fall, I settled for many Shaggy Manes and made soup. I can just imagine what it will be like to find a Morel! Anticipation is part of the fun!
My user name is "Ferrous" because I am active on some metal detecting forums as well. I am sort of a newbie at that too, although, I have owned a detector since I was a kid. I guess I love elusive things! My real name is Eric, happy hunting!

Welcome to NCM Eric! If you are just starting to learn morel hunting. First start out by learning the host trees. Next learn the difference between a true morel and a false morel. Also read through some of the various information on the homepage. If you have any more questions or just want to chat, strike up a conversation or jump into one that is already going. BTW, I prefer non-ferrous metals. They seem to have more value than metals containing iron.

Don't forget to check out the FAQ's and Rules.
ZERO TOLERANCE SPAM RULE!! Click here and read or you could be BANNED!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!
There's 3 types of people in da world, those that can count, and those that can't.

Yes trees, identifying... many good sites and yes, I have been on this site many times the last two seasons. I think am pretty well prepared this time, I have been studying my field books. Last year we found an area that screams Morel but we were too late even for the blondes I think. I marked it on the GPS though. We shall see! Thanks again everyone, good to be here!
