Discussions on Morel Mushrooms. Please do not post your finds in this forum.

Do not give specific areas where mushrooms have been found. Refrain from naming street names, Business names, government buildings, shopping centers, pasturelands, when specific directions are given to a location, or any place with an address. Naming a County and or State is fine and will provide enough info for any hunter to get an idea if mushrooms are being found in their area.<br />Click here for more info: Respecting other Hunters

I found about a dozen blacks along a wooded bank under some cottonwood trees about 2 weeks ago. As this is my first year hunting morels, this is the only spot I have found- and I've looked quite a bit -where I've found more than 1 morel. I was wondering if it's worth returning to this place now that a few weeks have past. I guess what I'm asking is can one harvest a spot, return a few weeks later and then find more?

Always recheck spots where you find morels, especially when rain/temp conditions are good, when conditions are good I check my spots every few days.

Just remember...... you can eat any mushroom ONCE

Gotcha. Thanks for the input. Found about a pound under ash and apple today (upstate ny), so I guess I've got 2 spots now! :good:

That's awesome! Most of the woods that I hunt seem to produce only one or the other (mostly whites). What I have seen happen is one year the area will produce false morels and then the next year they be true morels but never blacks & whites in the same area in the same year.

NOPE! Never check it again! :Whistling: Why waste your time? In fact, if you tell me exactly where that tree is, I WILL PERSONALLY GO there and make sure nobody else wastes their time either  It's the least I can do to help! :bigrin2: I don't mind! Really!!!

Man, this spot I've been visiting-the one with blacks and yellows- must be magical indeed. Went there the other day and found fresh oyster mushrooms and Dryad's saddle in addition to more yellows. Not to mention a variety of LBMs, Coprinus sp., and a few fresh shelf polypores.
