Hey guys, I just started mushrooming last year a couple of time,s and really got into it this spring. But this is my first little green fungi like this. Can anyone tell me what it is? I looked it up on the net and no results. It smelled like a melon. Thanks guys....

Its not a shroom,its from a tree. A tree gall I think

Looking at the cross section, It could be a stinkhorn egg. The mass inside a stinkhorn egg is dense, jelly like material. They come in many different forms. Any I have seen have had a whitish coloured skin on the outside.

We used to look for these on the summer when we were kids. When their dry you can step on them and they make a loud pop noise!
