Discussions on Morel Mushrooms. Please do not post your finds in this forum.

Do not give specific areas where mushrooms have been found. Refrain from naming street names, Business names, government buildings, shopping centers, pasturelands, when specific directions are given to a location, or any place with an address. Naming a County and or State is fine and will provide enough info for any hunter to get an idea if mushrooms are being found in their area.<br />Click here for more info: Respecting other Hunters

i use small buckets with holes drilled in them.the morels never move and stay perfect.its really good.ive used mesh bags and made the mistake of letting my boys carry them, what a mess, they didnt even look like morels when they were done with them.

Interesting post - I am wondering if there is any different: negatives or positives between a mesh bag and a wooden basket. In Europe we carry wooden baskets...can any one shed some light on this? I know that they need to breathe - but just curious.

Thanks.

Dech

Hi Dech, baskets work great for collecting your mushrooms and keeping them in good shape, the biggest upside to using mesh bags is that the holes in the bag allow the spores to fall back to the ground as you walk around the woods, kind of like re-seeding as you pick.

Just remember...... you can eat any mushroom ONCE
